Robin Henry Watches proudly presents the Cartier Pasha reference 1989, a design masterpiece crafted in solid yellow gold. This 38mm neo-vintage timepiece from the 1990s epitomises luxury that Cartier is renowned for.
The story of the Cartier Pasha
The Cartier Pasha's origins trace back to the 1930s when Thami El Glaoui, the Pasha of Marrakesh, commissioned Louis Cartier to create a water-resistant watch that he could wear while swimming yet was elegant enough for high-society events. Although the exact design of the original is unknown, it inspired Cartier's future innovations. Could it get any cooler?
In 1985, Cartier officially launched the Pasha collection, marking a significant departure from their traditional dress watches. Designed by the legendary watchmaker Gérald Genta, the Pasha featured a large 38mm round case, prominent Arabic numerals, and a distinctive screw-down crown cap, ensuring water resistance. This design combined boldness with elegance, making it a standout in Cartier's lineup.
Throughout the 1990s, the Pasha evolved, with variations in materials, including stainless steel and smaller models to cater to a broader audience. The collection grew to include complex complications, enhancing its appeal among watch enthusiasts.
Cultural significance
The Cartier Pasha has adorned the wrists of numerous celebrities and notable figures. Our favourite being Christopher Moltisanti, a character from "The Sopranos," famously wore a Cartier Pasha, highlighting its status as a symbol of style and success. Other notable wearers include Pierce Brosnan, Sammy Davis Jr., and modern icons like Rami Malek.
