Honestly, this piece has been such a long time coming and we can’t even believe how stunning a watch we are presenting today. If this isn’t the best condition Cellini available in the world today, at the best price worldwide, I’ll eat my pants. This should be in a museum.

The Rolex Cellini found its origins in the 1960s as the watchmaker dipped its proverbial toe back into the dress watch sector. Unlike most other models with defined purposes and design principles, the Cellini line became more of an “umbrella” for Rolex’s dress watches in a variety of designs over the years.

This collection saw over half a century in production until the majority were quietly discontinued in 2022, all bar the rose-gold moonphase model. This final model bowed out last year and marked the end of the Cellini - replaced with the very divisive Perpetual 1908, likely to be the spiritual successor to the Cellini collection but with more consistency between model designs.

This example dates from the mid-70’s and evokes all of the elegant and timeless qualities from that era, truly a work of art. The solid 18k gold rectangular tank-style case is unlike much else in the Rolex lineup and features a “pyramid” or “honeycomb” effect throughout for added visual interest.

The dial is a new Rolex service dial in a strikingly dark blue that can look almost black depending on the light. Against the gold case this combination is absolutely stunning. Presented in excellent vintage condition throughout, straight from a full Rolex service with a brand-new brown leather Rolex strap and Rolex gold buckle, this Cellini truly stands out from the crowd and is one of only a handful available in the world! Better still, for a watch that is vintage and yet somehow “fresh from Rolex”, it’s less than £5k!!
