THE Bond watch to end all Bond watches. Made famous by Pierce Brosnan as 007 when he wore the Quartz version in 1995’s Goldeneye, the blue Seamaster 300m instantly became a permanent landmark in watch collecting.
This reference came into play two years later in 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies when Bond upgraded to the automatic chronometer version. This remained 007’s watch of choice for the remainder of Brosnan’s tenure before Daniel Craig’s Bond (the worst Bond ever) updated his watch again to the co-axial 2220.80.00 reference of the same model.
Unfortunately this one doesn’t explode, shoot laser beams or tell you if you did enough squats today, but it still oozes sophistication and timeless iconography.
What makes this one of our favourite watches of all time is the case profile, significantly slimmer and lighter than the modern equivalent making it practical for any occasion, any weather, any activity. The aluminium bezel completes the look, still standing out in its trademark blue but with less of the gloss “sheen” of modern ceramic bezel Seamasters, truly living up to its “tool watch” reputation.
This example is presented in excellent, freshly serviced condition on its original bracelet with diver extension and the original box & papers. A quality one-watch-for-life candidate watch at half the price for a new modern equivalent, with all the Bond history and 90’s style you could want!
